In 2011, I signed up for my first CrossFit Games Open. It was the inaugural year of this series to find out who would go to Regionals and eventually to the CrossFit Games. Was I anticipating making a trip to Regionals? Nope. Not even close. But I was interested to find out how I would stack up against the world in this sport of fitness that I love so much.
It was fun (and sometimes stressful) to compete in these WODs the first few years of the Open but for me the last couple of years have been a blast! In 2014, I entered the realm of the Masters athletes and am now able to square off against my peers. In 2014 I finished 754 in the world in the 40-44 age division. Last year I improved to 546. It’s still a bit off from the top 200 in the world I’m shooting for to make the Masters Qualifier but I’m still working hard to get there!
It’s incredibly rewarding to still be progressing in my strength and skills for this endeavor. The Open gives me a chance to apply my training and see how it’s going. I look forward to see how my physical and mental game has improved this year! How about you?
Join in on the fun! CFW went from 1 person in the Open in 2011 to 42 members joining the fun in 2015! Get in on the action by signing up HERE.
