Want the Fountain of Youth? Lift weights. . The stronger and more capable you are against a heavy load the better you will ward off the effects of time. Weightlifting will help you have better posture, increased balance, and even improve your hormone profile. Not to mention, muscles just look good.
Another benefit of muscle is that this tissue is more metabolically active. This means it gives your body the ability to burn more fat at rest. Yes, please.
Still not convinced to pick up that dumbbell? I’ll leave you with this quote from Mark Rippetoe on gaining strength through lifting weights- “Strong people are harder to kill and more useful in general.” That, my friends, is what I want to be.
